Spinal cord aficionados, this one’s for you!


Lightsheet spinal cord imaging generates beautiful 3D data, but the spinal cord relentlessly refuses to stay straight. So we built a straightening step that takes the raw, curved tissue and maps it onto a clean linear one.

On the left: the raw 3D rendering, wobbly and doing its own thing. On the right: the same cord, straightened computationally as part of our analysis pipeline.

Getting this step right unlocks everything that comes after, including building a full 3D lightsheet spinal cord reference atlas!

This is part of a project we’re running with Grace Houser in Rune Berg lab as partners of the Project Move2Treat – EU HORIZON EIC 2024 PATHFINDER OPEN at the Department of Neuroscience, University of Copenhagen.
